AS-SBC Virtual symposium
Navigating the Funding Crisis: Adapting and Innovating for Sustainable Social and Behavior Change in Africa.
OVERVIEW
The African Society for Social and Behavior Change (AS-SBC) is convening a four-hour virtual symposium to address the pressing challenges posed by dwindling financial resources for SBC initiatives in Africa and beyond. With significant shifts in foreign aid policies, most notably the recent freeze on US funding, SBC practitioners must explore innovative adaptation strategies to sustain and scale their efforts. This symposium brings together thought leaders, policymakers, academia, practitioners, and donors to discuss the current funding crisis, lessons learnt from past funding models, and opportunities to ensure the resilience and growth of SBC interventions.
SYSMPOSIUM OBJECTIVES
- Analyse the impacts of global funding shifts on SBC initiatives across Africa.
- Critically examine past funding strategies and structural weaknesses within the SBC field.
- Explore alternative financing models and adaptation strategies for sustainable SBC work.
- Facilitate collaboration and knowledge-sharing among SBC practitioners, donors, and government agencies.
- Develop an actionable roadmap and recommendations to ensure SBC’s financial resilience.
