At the 2024 Africa SBC Summit, AS-SBC launched a dedicated thematic track on Digital Transformation. The society conducted specialized training on using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and mobile technology to scale interventions. This included “prompt engineering” for local contexts, teaching practitioners how to use AI to draft messages in local languages (like Luganda or Wolof) while ensuring they remain culturally sensitive and scientifically accurate.
This digital curriculum has been adopted as a “Masterclass” module by AS-SBC technical leads and is being integrated into the society’s upcoming online professional certification course.
Over 500 tech-forward practitioners participated in the initial digital transformation workshops, with the tools now accessible to all 1,100+ NBT members.
The initiative has empowered local teams to produce high-quality communication materials 40% faster than traditional methods. It has also improved the accuracy of real-time monitoring and evaluation by using digital dashboards to track behavior change indicators in the field.
